Intended for 13 to 16 year-olds of all experiences and backgrounds, Touch the Sky programs teach kids the fundamentals of climbing movement on real rock.
Participants in the Touch the Sky program will learn how to communicate with their partners, practice skills in a safe environment to interpret risk and make appropriate decisions, as well as develop an understanding of the ecological and human history of the land upon which we recreate and live.
Program Description
Under the tutelage of qualified and experienced instructors, Touch the Sky programs provide middle and high school students opportunities to learn rock climbing skills while developing a love for outdoor spaces.
Participants will learn the following:
Leave No Trace practices
Climbing equipment and proper use
Partner communication
Proper belay technique
A variety of climbing movement skills and styles
Introduction to climbing anchors and different means of protection
Human and natural history of the Bozeman area
Introduction to risk management and decision-making
