Tim Banfield

Tim Banfield is one of the most prominent photographers in the mountain world, particularly with ice climbing and skiing. Winner of both the 2018 John Lauchlan Award, as well as the Mountaineering Article Award at the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, Tim’s images are constantly circulating through the climbing world, including being published in Gripped, Rock & Ice, and countless other publications.

Tim is honest, interesting, and adventurous, balancing his life of shooting multi-pitch days in the Canadian Rockies with his day job of real estate. In this sixth installment of the MMA Speaker Series, viewers will get to hear the stories behind some of their favorite ice climbing photos, learn about the process for getting such stunning images, and hear what it's like working with phenomenal mountain athletes.
